Kids simply love to say the Hurry-Up tag line:

“When asked to do it…you get right to it!”

Children get excited to beat Hurry-Up because it is one of the last Crabbies, and they know they are close to beating all of The Crabbies. Excitement and motivation make a great foundation for listening, cooperating and beating Hurry-Up!

It is a good idea to set a timer for things like:

• Clean up
• Getting ready for naps or bedtime
• Coming to sit at the table for meals
• Putting on jackets and boots to go outside
• Getting ready for a field trip

Be sure to make a BIG DEAL out of it when they beat the buzzer!

If the children are done with their task and the buzzer hasn’t gone off get into full role-play mode and act totally shocked and excited…jump up and down, dance a little! Make it a big deal! They just beat Hurry-Up!

“Ha! Ha! Hurry-Up! We BEAT you this time!!!”

Kids also love beating YOU, so when it fits to do this, tell them that you have to get ‘x’ done before the buzzer too. Make sure they are ahead of you and when you all ‘Beat the Buzzer’ you can praise them for being so responsible!

As usual…MAKE IT FUN and they will too!!!
